FAQ

Listening to Music

Q. What are the system requirements for your player?
A. The basic requirements are a computer, speakers and a broadband Internet connection. The service uses Flash Player 9, and works in Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari.

Q. Will it work on my Mac?
A. Yes.

Q. Which browsers will it work in?
A. Our player works in Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari.

Q. Do you offer a dialup stream?
A. No. I decided to focus on one stream to cut down on our monthly costs. The stream is currently for broadband at 64kbps.

Q. Why do I always get a “Connection Failed” or “unavailable right now” message?
A. Chances are you are trying to listen at work and you’re behind a Firewall. Our content is all served using Flash Media Server. We stream audio using a protocol called RTMP (Real Time Messaging Protocol). RTMP occurs over port 1935 and many firewalls will block this port. To combat this, Flash Media server offers a second protocol called RTMPT(Real Time Messaging Protocol Tunneling). This protocol occurs over port 80, the port designated for HTTP traffic. Our player should attempt an RTMP connection, and if it fails, it will try again using RTMPT. Keep in mind that our service will not always work for you if you’re behind a strict firewall. This is beyond our control and at the mercy of your IT department’s firewall configuration.
